TripAdvisor has released results from its second, annual vacation rentals survey of more than 1,400 U.S. travelers.
Here are some results from TripAdvisor’s vacations rentals survey:
• 52 percent plan a rental home stay during the warmer months;
• 47 percent plan to stay in beachfront villas, the most popular vacation rental type for 2011;
• 41 percent say vacation rentals were the best option for a trip at a destination for a week or more;
• 33 percent thought they were the best option for large groups;
• 29 percent always or often stay in the same rental year after year;
• 87 percent say they would choose to stay in a vacation rental over a hotel if it were significantly less expensive;
• 80 percent would book a last minute vacation rental stay if they found a great deal;
• 36 percent stayed in a vacation rental for a milestone life event (wedding, birthday or reunion);
• 92 percent don’t think cities should limit travelers’ access to short-term vacation rental stays and
• Most find vacation rentals on the Web through vacation rental property websites (70 percent) and online travel websites (55 percent).
